31/3/2018 The APC-led administration could not have imagined a better means of provoking the sensibility of the good people of Nigeria when it decided to publish the list of treasury looters recently. What it thought would excite the public suddenly became the platform for actually ridiculing itself as more and more Nigerians - whose sense of empathy for the APC has since being brazenly abused - continued to denounce the publication as evidence of a childish and self-centered government. First, was the fact that the list comprised of ONLY 6 names. Second, was the fact that the said names featured mostly members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and third, was the fact that it did not hide the motive to intimidate that clearly motivated the publication in the first instances. 22/03/18 SIR: Since the debate for restructuring became so loud about 4 years ago, the Northern region of Nigeria has maintained their argument for a welfarist system as against the position of the Southern region which is a fair and equitable system. The North sees her position as best for her because she believed that the region may not be able to sustain self in the event that restructuring was implemented in line with the South's idea of self-sustenance. For over 5 decades now, Nigeria has operated a welfarist system of administration whereby the several states of the federation depended on the central government for survival. This has for instance, prevented increase in states and therefore buried several ethnic nationalities who wished to be given vent for expression of self in their own state. The subject of restructuring - if you ask me - should concern the average Nigerian youth of today's Nigeria more it should concern our elders. This is because studies have shown that an average youth always held a different view of contemporary life from the elders. That said, it was the goodwill of elders to guide the youth aright but it was the youth who will actually live in the 'planned' future the elders foresaw. 01/03/2018 The recently concluded The Sun Leadership Awards brought me some fond memories especially as I watched Sir Celestine Omehia - one time Governor of Rivers State Nigeria - granting interviews to a journalist that evening. I'm sure a number of us that watched the Channels TV that day saw that video. Clearly, the subject of restructuring - which has been burning for a little while now - has generated enough heat on the polity for it to be categorized as another hotspot after the likes of the Chibok girls campaign and the unending fuel scarcity in the country at the moment. It would never have generated this kind of heat - many asserted - if the APC had done the needful a long time ago and which is why the sudden U-turn by the same APC government on the issue is received with skepticism.
